Annual Family Vacation to Lewiston Lake

We took our annual family vacation this past week.
The ingredients for the "Kang Family Vacation"
1. Lake/River
2. Cabin/tent
3. Fishing nearby
4. Camp food, especially SPAM!
5. Adventurous spirit
After Ted and I got married, we've had annual vacations in the Sept/October time frame.
2001 - Namakanta Lake in NH We took a float plane into a remote area with only 5-6 cabins. We hiked 2-3 hours up to the mountain each day, to find a small canoe and we fished until dusk. Then, we hiked back and devoured our gain. It was quite scary for me to be 2 of the four campers there. I was afraid of the dark mountain roads, imaginery shadows following our hike down, the mice in our cabin...but as a newlywed, I fearlessly trusted my new husband would take care of me...and indeed, he did b/c the following years, I kept following him to more adventures.
2002 - Yosemite. I was in my third trimester with Abigail. Ted wanted to drive to King's Canyon one day because he heard there was excellent fishing. Obviously, he lived this vacation as an adventurous single guy - drove his really pregnant wife 2-3 hours into the mountains, with no other cars or houses in sight. Pitched our small tent in a random campsite. Just held me in our sleeping bags telling me we were safe. I'm glad we left the next day back to Yosemite, a place full of tourists.
2003 - Los Cabos, Mexico Why Mexico? Because there is good fishing there. We had a good time b/c we stayed at an all-inclusive resort and enjoyed the beautiful weather of Mexico. Ted caught a huge tuna which we brought back to LA and ate with my parents. And Abigail who was only 10 months old enjoyed cups and cups of strawberry daquiri (of course, no alcohol).
2004 - Asilomar This vacation was cut short b/c we realized how difficult it is to travel with a toddler and a newborn. What were we thinking???
2005 - Lewiston Lake It was a great time with our dear friends Robert, Wonmin, and Elijah. However, we all got tired and sick from this trip, because once again, we learned it is difficult going to these trips with two little ones.
2006 - ??? The questions remains for next year. How can we include these five ingredients of the Kang family vacation with two little girls? We'll see. But, one thing for sure, the Kang family WILL ALWAYS have annual family vacations b/c this is one thing we want to create for our children - wonderful memories of family vacations.

Time To Change
After several months of contemplating what to do with this website, I (Sandy) finally submitted to my husband's sweet and gentle "demands" of posting entries. I did not want to give up Abigail's xanga site, but I am now motivated to write things beyond my little girl's perspective into adult insights into life. Lately, I've been reading, experiencing, and learning a lot. Ted and I want to use this website to challenge and encourage our few, but faithful readers to live darefully and fearlessly for God. It will be natural for us to write about issues most relevant to us - parenting, children, motherhood, fatherhood, marriage...yes, it's obvious that all these words only focus on the family unit. Besides family/relational issues, fishing will be a big topic. So, please stay tuned...I will try my best to write at least once/week.
